Norforms Vaginal Suppositories, Are They Safe? (Page 1)

I am just concerned because I have purchased the product norforms vaginal suppositories, and I understand that douching regulary could cause a bacterial infection. Does using norform pose any risks? Please someone message me back with any info. Thank you!

I don’t know what those are sorry. But I wanted to add that douching at all can cause infections. Not just douching regularly. Doctors say not to do it all because it strips the vagina of its natural cleansers and leaves you more prone to infection, etc.

I would try looking up those suppositories on yahoo and see what kind of info pops up. Sorry I couldn’t help more!

I hope norforms suppositories are safe. I started using them only two months ago, and they are a godsend! I had suffered from embarrassing vaginal odor for years, and it had worsened when I entered menopause. It was so frustrating because I have very clean hygiene, but the offensive smell persisted. My gyno always told me to use a “mild cleanser” daily, so I tried many different brands, but none of them worked to alleviate the problem. I finally decided to give norforms a try, and after the very first suppository the odor was completely gone, literally overnight! I was ecstatic and feel like a new person with more confidence, especially with the warmer weather coming when I can’t hide behind layers of clothing. I’d be absolutely crushed if they aren’t a good product to use :(

If u were douching regularly tht was probably the reason u had the oder because when u douch too frequently u get a bacterial infection called BACTERIA VAGINOSIS…U MIGHT want to look it up they have kits at walmart tht cure them but this could have been the problem all along

I would really like to know the answer to the question also because I have recently started using them and I love them, so I am hoping they are safe.

  6. Losi says:

I have been using norforms for over 20 yrs and have never had a problem with them. My son ate one once so I called poison control and they said it is only a soap like ingredient that is not harmful so I am sure they are safe for anyone.

  7. kavaughnjala says:

They are really good for daily use I’ve used them for years and I think that their’s nothing better. My only question is can I use them with a mirena for the same cleansing?

So I’m 17, march 25th was the day:)

today april 2nd, my mom came into my room

and threw some norforms on my dresser, i know

i dont stink but sometimes my vagina does

produce weird odors, so i was wondering is this safe for me to use because it says to stick it far up as possible and im scared because i dont know how far to go and i dont like things like needles, sticks, etc going anywhere inside me somebody help maybe?

  10. NaKorianReign says:

I am looking to use these as well…As far as the 17 year old worried about how far to stick them up and if they are safe. If you have ever used a tampon, I don’t think ti would be much of a difference except that these are much smaller. Your vagina has a cervix, thus there is only so far you can stick anything up your vagina! Also things like norforms and tampons do not break your hymen, I used my first tampon at 13, and my hymen was intact until I lost my virginity.

  11. qwertygirl says:

Norforms are nothing but deodorant suppositories, born out of the belief that our vaginas are dirty and smelly and that they need to smell like fresh flowers at all times, which is just wrong.

Diet, lack of proper rest and exercise, and the changes in a woman’s cycle all affect the pH and scent of the vagina, but Norforms and other products (like FDS spray) leave you prone to bacterial vaginosis, which is what it sounds like you’re all experiencing forms of.

Watery strong-scented discharge? Yeah, that’s BV.

Treat the problem internally. Probiotics usually help, as does Oil of Oregano.

Try the Jarrow Pharmaceuticals Enhanced Probiotic System, or Wellness brand Oil of Oregano. Both of these are available at Whole Foods or any health food store, and they offer natural long term solutions to this problem.

Norforms is just deodorant, and any doctor worth her salt will tell you that they’re in the same category as douches, ie, NOT TO BE USED.

For the treatment of BV using oil of oregano, take a dropper full in the morning and a dropper full at night before you go to bed for three days and you should be back to normal, NATURALLY, and without covering it up with some deodorant, which is what Norforms are.

Oil of Oregano is extremely strong–strong enough to make you shiver–but lean your head all the way back, drop the oil in your mouth, and swallow it quickly. You’ll have the breath of a 100 pizzas, but you chase it with some water and you should be OK. It works for colds, too, as it clears mucus and is a natural antifungal.

For the probiotics, use as directed on the box for about a week and you should see a decrease if not total cessation of the discharge.

    You have nothing to lose.

  12. healthy2u says:

The post above is not true – norforms are catagorized by the American Hospital Formulary System as “anti-infectives” because of the active ingredient, which is Benzethonium Chloride. It is an anti-infective, not just a deodorant. That’s why they work so well. They must not be a big money maker for the company that makes them, because they are not marketed very well. I think they are awesome! I wish I could find the unscented ones because I think the perfume probably doesn’t do anything but irritate!

  13. Momof2boyz2 says:

Yes norforms are safe. I been using them for years and when I first started I talked to my OBGYN and she said they were fine no side affects.

  14. Jessierabbit says:

I recently just heard about Norforms and was wondering if i can use them during my period? I am someone who is prone to having yeast infections, vaginal odors, etc. Im only 25 and unfortunately I was blessed with a reproductive system where something is always wrong! But I want to be able to control the smell of my vaginal area. please tell me these things are safe to use?????

  15. Catsby says:

In 1959 I visited a doctor before getting married, and he told me to use Norforms as birth control. Just insert one before having sex. They worked! My husband and I had our first child two years and three days after our wedding.

  16. bonjour415 says:

People, vaginas have a smell. It’s okay. It’s a good smell, really! People who are into women like the way vaginas smell. So Marilynn and everyone else, see a doctor if your vagina smells different than usual, but if it smells like it usually does, leave it alone! Vaginas are self-cleaning, they don’t need any help.

  17. abcitsme says:

I suffered for years with an odor that was NOT BV or YEAST or any other STD. I have been to the GYN countless times and told, NO infection- I even went to a specialist that people travel from all over to see and he told me that after multiple pregnancies, in my case the cervix leaks vaginal secretions, and there was nothing I could do except wash with antibacterial soap, cotton panties, no douching, etc etc, most of you with this issue, you know the drill. Well one day after using norforms the odor is GONE!!! I love these and wont give them up. I used to skip socializing, parties, events etc. because of the way I smell. Try one box and see for yourself. IF you have not seen a doctor PLEASE DO SO, because you may have some sort of infection.

    Se Puede USAR COMO anticonseptibo

  19. Jeania says:

I used Norforms in my late twenties. I never had a problem, just wanted to do something beside douching. I was told that douching would cause bacteria and infection to be deposited into my upper vaginal area. I used it and within two days, I had active genital warts, which have continued throughout my lifetime. I am now 66 years of age and continue to suffer with condyloma, genital warts. I NEVER had this condition until I used Norform……only one time. What could have happened to me?

  20. notfire says:

The virus that causes genital warts could not be transmitted from a suppository to a vagina. The virus is very sensitive, it can hardly survive even being washed, and needs direct skin-to-skin contact from an infected person in order to get transmitted. The lady above would’ve already HAD the virus on her mucous membrane, and perhaps a chemical in the suppository triggered it? But even that doesn’t make sense… as it typically takes 2-3 months after an HPV infection for a wart to form. Something doesn’t jive with the above post.

I just start using Norforms today, and i guess its all draining out right now. Immediately, I notice a very pleasant scent coming from my vagina. All am wondering is, when will the leakage stop and if this product can be used daily, then will i be walking around leaking all day? help please.

  22. sashafeirce says:

Like the lady above I just started using Norforms today and immediately I noticed a pleasant smell from my vagina, but I am experiencing leakage. It says that they are safe to use everday, but will I have this leaking all the time?? I just want to also say that I’m son glad that I found this product because it has worked wonders for me!!! They are wonderful. I just started to have this very unpleasant odor coming from down there so I told myself that I needed to go to the doctor, but fortunately I found these, plus I didn’t want to be on antibiotics again. This product is great!

  23. bluntsuzy says:

If you use it at night before bed you shouldn’t be leaking. The sent will last through out the next day and in some case beyond. I first heard about norform 15 years ago walking home from school with a friend that discovered them in her mothers bedroom. So it has definitely been around a long time because I am in my 40′s now. I know someone that has been treated for genital warts by having a biopsy. It is an STD so it could not have contracted from this product. That being said I have had four children and notice a change in smell about a week before and after I have my cycle. I do not have an infection and ran across the box in the store. I tried one suppository and worked for days. Before this I used medicated douche and it worked as well. I know what the doctors say about douching but I personally will use them at least 3 times a year. 1 vinegar one, three months later a medicated one, and another vinegar one three months later. I know that the vagina is self cleaning but even a self cleaning oven needs to be wiped down afterwards. Talk to your OBGYN, I mean develop a relationship. Remember this is your body and you should use your visits wisely. Right down questions so you don’t forget at the time of your visit. My doctor knows my regimine. That was my compromise from monthly douching. I am going to reduce that and try the noroforms which were oked.

Can you use norforms if you are on birth control?

  25. GravyWavy says:

Are you crazy? Shrimp and wings? Taters with Norform gravy are the bomb…

  26. ktskat says:

Norforms ARE NOT BIRTH CONTROL but can be used with birth control safely.

  28. msconcerned says:

I would like to answer the last to questions above, If you are going to use them incerting them before bathing will help with the leakage, I have used them for 2yrs and have found that they work great. And a pantyliner would be good for the first half hour, all leaks should clear.

  29. Atavares90 says:

I use them all the time. I have a very sensitive vagina, prone to yeast infections and easily irritated by sexual intercourse. Also I’m on the Depo shot so my hormones are all out of whack. I get a weird odor every few months and RELY on norforms to handle the job. I’ve had NO side effects. And coming from me, that’s great. I even get irritated wen I use those rephresh ph balancing thingies. I will say that the leaking will stop. I usually put it in while I’m laying down, taking a nap, or going to bed at night so it doesn’t leak out right away and can really do it’s job. After a while I’ll urinate (which encourages any fluids in the vagina to exit) and then shower. Most of it is out by then but sum likes to stick around. So I’ll wear a panty liner/light pad for a little while n that’ll catch the last of it.

    CeeCee

I’ve used Norforms for almost 20 yrs. I use them daily for a fresh feeling. I’ve never had any adverse problems while using Norforms.

My only problem is availability of the product. Wal-Mart and Shop-Rite don’t sell them anymore(I live in NJ). They’re much more expensive in the local drug stores. So I ordered them on line instead.

  32. chica91 says:

im afraid to use it so im still undecided weather to use it or not but i want to know is it safe to do it everyday! eventhough im scared im willing to take my chance becuz my vagina has a horrible smell

  34. nisey says:

Yes these are definately safe and you do not have to worry about them staying inside you.. They are suppositories which eventually melt in the vagina.

  35. shantasia101 says:

does norforms effect you ph levels

  36. lovelymomma says:

To avoid the annoying leakage during the day…insert the norforms before you go to bed so most of the leakage takes place while you sleep. I also recommend to insert right before sex…my man couldn’t get enough!!!

  37. donkov says:

what is the expiration date for norforms

  38. donkov says:

Please can anyone help me find out the expiration date for norforms suppositories? i have check the product and I cant locate it. which of the two products is more effective fresh flower or island escape. thanks

I feel nervous too. I’ve gone to my Dr and everything. Still the same thing. I’m very anti douching because I know it pushes things up that should be out. My co worker who is 51 told me to try them. I’m just sitting here staring at the box. I’m kinda sensitive too. I’ll give them a shot because I’m gettin discouraged and starting to hate my vagina. Thanks dog the advice ladies!

is there any taste when u use them? will my hubby still like to preform oral sex on me

  41. coco94 says:

two questions before i order these Which i have pondered for a while. Are you sure theyre okay to use before sex cos i assumed it would get rather messy down there and oral sex – thats a whole other matter lol. And two to cut down on leakage couldnt norforms just be used less frequently [once every two to three days?] i dont like the idea of leaking every day and surely the flower smell would linger down there for a while. If i could order a big wholesale box for Cheap to the uk i would Lol.

  42. coco94 says:

also can they be used during your period?

  43. Sweetnessnty says:

    Can I use norforms daily

  44. Kittieglenn says:

Yes you can…. It will not hurt you

  45. chanllie86 says:

I Loooooooooove this item but I will not ever use this product every day. I have irritation, burning sensation, and itching. I am at fault because I don’t think its a good idea sticking those bullet shaped oils in your vaginal canal! Once that infection is a cleared I will continue to use it but only when I need to!

This item it like number one where I get them. Its always like one box left when I go down the feminine isle

  46. EricLisa12 says:

Why did they discontinue the unscented norforms???

  47. Kittieglenn says:

Norf orms are good to use but it says on the box to use panty liners because of the leakage that comes from it.

  48. FloridaBarbie says:

Use at night b4 bed. Somethings are common sense. I live by these things my Mother used them and I will pass it down to my daughter when time is fitting. I only use like once a month use as often as you like use your judgement, no1 knows your body better then YOU!!!! They are the BEST on the market. I have never use any other product EVER these are all I know

  49. Emeraldxo says:

I absolutely LOVE norforms. I recently started using them and I must say they are AH-MAZING! I’ve never been one to typically have an odor, but I just wanted to ensure that my “lotus flower” remained fresh. Norforms gives off a pleasant smell and I have yet to get BV / a yeast infection. I would recommended this product to ANY female. The ONLY thing that I may dislike is the leakage. It typically lasts for about an hour/ two so I would suggest to wear a pantiliner.

  50. user618973 says:

This message is for Sashafeirce. I know im mad late with it but just for further notice…Ive heard many good things about norforms i personally havent had the chamce to try em yet but i will as soon as i find em in the store. My concern is Even though you think that norforms are great because u feel that u have an odor and you don’t want to get anymore antibiotics, you could have an infection and just using norforms is really just masking your problem. Sort of like having a fever for 2-3 weeks but instead of going to the doctor u just keep taking tylenol to bring the fever down and ease the sumptoms. What im saying is your mot addressing the main issue your just passifying it. If u think there is something abnormal going on down there then you must go to the gyn to find out what is going on with ur vagina. And if u need an antibiotic then so be it. But just using vaginal deodarant is not fixing the problem ( if there is a problem) and you’ll never know if u refuse medical care and just stick with controlling the symptoms /the odor. My advice is get a check up just to make sure u don’t have any bacterial infections down there.

  51. rnin1978 says:

I found an advertisement for Norforms in an April 1957 magazine. The advertisement said Norforms were an antiseptic and a germicidal suppositories, and at body temperature melts forming a powerful protective film to the vagina.

Frequent use has got to be bad for you.
